Sidley Austin Brown & Wood appoints senior corporate finance lawyer

The law firm now has 25 lawyers working on corporate finance related issues in Hong Kong.

International law firm Sidley Austin Brown & Wood has announced the appointment of a new senior corporate finance lawyer for the firm's Hong Kong office. Mark Sutherland, who previously led a team of corporate finance and securities lawyers at Clifford Chance, will start his new role as consultant on February 4.

Qualified in England & Wales as well as Hong Kong, Sutherland's main areas of practice cover corporate finance and equity capital markets in Hong Kong, Asia and Europe, as well as structured finance and securitization, trustee advisory and debt capital markets transactions.

Since qualifying, he has worked on over 100 public transactions and has represented underwriters and issuers in connection with the structuring, negotiating and documenting of offerings of international and Hong Kong equity and debt securities.

Sutherland has practiced for over 10 years with leading city-based law firms in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong and at one time was seconded to the legal department of CSFB's office in Hong Kong.
