Onshore fund house awards 2010

AsianInvestor wants to recognise the best asset managers in local markets across the region. Anyone with an onshore business is invited to pitch, by submitting a pitch of no more than 700 words to [email protected] by Friday, 9 April. This should be in the form of a Word document.

It does not matter if your firm is from this market or is a global player with a local presence, so long as you manufacture product on the ground and sell it to local clients.

There are different ways to call yourself the best: by performance across local asset classes, by client service, by asset gathering, by product innovation. Winners usually combine several of these elements. We are looking for what you've done in the calendar year 2009.

Testimonials from onshore clients may be included in addition to your 700-word pitch. But nothing else please, if you can't convince us in an essay that you're worthy of our award, then fancy photos and illustrations aren't going to sway us.

Instead, impress us with your passion, your commitment, your achievements and your vision. But you have to pitch to win this, we're not simply going to look up the local league table, because such numbers only tell part of the story, particularly in bull-market years. You have to be in it to win it.

For ETF managers, we have two awards just for you. First is to recognize a local firm that excels in the ETF space. We are not handing out separate awards by market. Rather you are competing with the ETF providers around the region, each in their own space. So while being king in your market is all very well, we are looking to award that one player that has done something special in 2009.

The other award is for the ETF manager with the best business in Asia (including Japan) in 2009. Local players are welcome to pitch if you think you can take on the global guys with a good story. Wherever you come from, how have you raised the bar for ETFs in Asia? What's your story when it comes to innovation, asset gathering, skill in pricing, market-making support?
