New trade role for Bruce Alter at JPMorgan

Asia takes the lead from New York by reshuffling its senior trade finance executives.

Bruce Alter has been promoted to head JPMorgan's regional trade finance services following on from other senior trade appointments announced at the New York headquarters late last year.

Based in Singapore, Alter has been managing marketing and strategy for the bank's treasury services division since 1998. "In his new role, Bruce will have direct responsibility for driving trade product strategy, product management, and P&L financials across the region," says Paul Simpson, global trade head. "Another key component of this role will be further building on the JPMorgan trade finance reputation in the region and increasing the current client base."

Alter moved to Asia in 1993 and held various trade and cash management sales and product development roles for Citibank in Taiwan and the Philippines. He has covered all client segments from multinational corporations and financial institutions to large domestic companies.

"Bruce brings an overall wealth of trade and banking knowledge to our team that will undoubtedly strengthen and complement our already existing strong global team," says JPMorgan's executive director of treasury services, Steve Groppi. "His years spent working in four different Asian countries as well as fluency in Chinese Mandarin will prove invaluable to his trade role."

As head of regional trade Alter will be encouraged to introduce the bank's trade clients to other JPMorgan treasury services such as cash management and foreign exchange. "In this role, Bruce will ensure there is cash/trade transparency and seamless integration for all of our clients," says Groppi.
