Barclays shifts Turner

The firm''s 14-year veteran to run its Asian leveraged and acquisition financing business.

Barclay’s Capital has shuffled Alan Turner, a 14-year veteran of the firm, to a newly created position that requires him to manage its leveraged and acquisition financing business in Asia.

Turner leaves Barclays' Asian syndicated loans business, where for three years he has been responsible for structuring and origination in Northeast Asia and India. Prior to that, he also held a London-based structuring role within the global loans division.

In the new role Turner will report Darcy Lai, Barclays Capital's head of investment banking and debt capital markets in Asia and continue to be based in Hong Kong.

"We've seen an increase in acquisition activity both domestically and cross border in Asia, which makes this new role an important part of our business going forward,” says Lai. “Private equity houses are increasingly finding opportunities in which to deploy their equity and that gives rise to a need for financing.”

Turner’s replacement in the Asian syndicated loans business has yet to be announced by Barclays.
