AsianInvestor seeks a reporter
AsianInvestor is expanding its team of full-time journalists and needs to hire a reporter. This person will cover two main areas of the funds industry: trading & execution, and custody.
We cover all aspects of the asset-management industry, which includes more than just the CEOs and the portfolio managers.
Trading & execution has become a hot topic, with the buy-side becoming the dominant partner thanks to new technologies and tools. From flash trading to dark pools, we are looking to boost our coverage of this area.
Fund-management companies' back and middle offices have been an important staple of our coverage for many years. Our reporting analyzes a broad set of functions, including legal & compliance, risk management, technology and trade processing. The job also entails speaking with the service providers in custody, fund administration and securities services.
Advances in technology mean that, in some cases such as transition management, the worlds of trading and securities services intersect. So there is a logic in combining these two areas of coverage in a single reporting role.
The reporter will write for both our daily online news service and our monthly magazine. Our philosophy is that reporters should cover their beats on both a daily basis, so that they are always in touch with the market, as well as have the chance to step back and consider the bigger picture. The job will involve some regional travel, and is based in Hong Kong.
In addition, all of our reporters must be flexible in terms of working hours and be able to cover ad-hoc projects.
Candidates should have familiarity with the areas of coverage, or related experience in financial journalism. You should demonstrate that you are a self-starter, good at understanding the nitty-gritty, can communicate and write clearly in English, can meet deadlines, and have a friendly and professional demeanour. We offer a very pleasant working environment and a competitive salary, and want to hire someone who is going to be enthusiastic about joining our team.
We are looking to fill this position quickly. If you are interested in applying for this job, please e-mail a CV and an introductory letter to us at [email protected].
