ABN AMRO shuffles Chen

After four years with the firm, Curtis Chen moves to a strategic development role.

After four years with ABN AMRO, Curtis Chen will internally transfer to a newly created post of chief strategic development officer for Asia. Remaining in ABN AMRO's Hong Kong office, Chen will report to Samuel Zavatti, member of executive committee of its wholesale clients strategic business unit.

In what is described as a strategic move, Chen immediately transfers from a position in the Dutch firm's financial institution public team where he led the insurance client business in the region. Before joining ABN AMRO in 2000, he spent seven years heading Aetna's business development for Asia after a six-year stretch with Booz, Allen and Hamilton in New York.

His appointment follows the recent hiring of Catherine Cai to lead ABN's China team and the crossing of Li Tian, who will head its financial institutions coverage team on the mainland.
